Designs, measures, fits, and adjusts lenses and frames for clients based on their optical prescription or specifications. Helps clients with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses. Assists clients in choosing frames and measures them for eyeglass size. Prepares work orders for the optical laboratory with instructions for grinding and mounting lenses. Checks the accuracy of finished lens spectacles and adjusts frames and lenses to fit clients. May also shape or reshape frames. This job includes contact lens opticians.
